Flint Tolley, the creator of Backyard Blasters, believes the game most people play when having a Dart Gun War at home or in the backyard, (or both) is “lets just shoot at each other until we get bored”.

The only objective is to shoot other players. There’s nothing else to it. That gets boring pretty quick.

You may have some objects you can use for cover, though they may not be safe or easy to setup.
